We chatted with Raphaella about how she’s using the Prophet-6.

Was the Prophet-6 your first DSI synth?

“Excitingly, yes!

What made you choose the it?

“For me, the Prophet-6 is one of the most versatile, warm, and beautiful sounding synths out there. The creative possibilities are endless and that’s what makes it my go-to synth whenever I start creating a new production or song.”

How are you using it?

“At the moment I’m using it in my studio for my writing and production sessions. It’s always such a brilliant start point and I usually begin every session with finding a bass-line or simple chord sequence to write around and build up, with the Prophet-6 always helping me find the perfect sound. I always end any production with it also layering bass and synth pads to add that iconic Prophet-6 warmth. I also can’t wait to start using it on stage bringing those sounds to life in my live shows as a beautiful warm analog addition, where I use Ableton live building loops from the ground up.

What’s one of your favorite things about it?

“There are actually so many favorite things about it! For one, the endless creative possibilities. If you wanted, you could literally never create the same sound twice. And the other is the sound/audio quality. It just sounds so good on its own without any processing.”

What does it give you that other instruments don’t?

“First class warmth and audio quality and depth of variation and versatility. The amount of editing you can actually do within the synth itself is incredible, and I literally don’t think I’ll ever get bored using it.”

Any interesting tricks or techniques you’d like to share?

“One thing I love to do is to run the Prophet-6 through guitar pedals. You can get so creative, dousing it in big verbs and delays, or make it super dry and  crunchy with a really creative edge to the sound.

Happy 15th Anniversary to Dave and DSI. Thank you for making such a beautiful synth. I can’t wait to enjoy every new DSI creation in the years to come!
